The Faculty of Manufacturing Technology (FTM), Universitas Jenderal Achmad Yani, monitored and evaluated 27 partnerships during 2023. A satisfaction survey completed by 25 partners produced an average of 3.66 on a scale of 1 to 4 across its eight statements.

Three partners are based abroad: Colorado School of Mines (United States), Universidade de Díli (Timor-Leste) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. The other 24 are national partners from universities, industry, government agencies, research institutions, associations and humanitarian organisations, including the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Institut Teknologi Bandung, PT Pindad, the Indonesia Stock Exchange, the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) and the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI).

Range of activities

All partnerships cover education, and 18 of them also cover research and community service. Activities include guest lectures, internships and work placements, student exchanges, joint research, the Capital Market School, scholarship programs, training and humanitarian projects.

Evaluation results

  • To be maintained: 11 partnerships (40.7%).
  • Running well: 10 partnerships (37%).
  • Follow-up needed: 4 partnerships (14.8%).
  • To be maintained and expanded: 2 partnerships (7.4%).

The partnerships with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and Institut Teknologi Bandung are to be maintained and expanded, with plans to increase joint research and to draw up a multi-year collaborative research roadmap. For Colorado School of Mines, the planned follow-up is a joint research proposal and a visiting lecturer program.

In the satisfaction survey, the highest score (3.71) was given for the service partners received during the partnership, while the lowest score (3.63) concerned the speed and ease of drafting MoUs/MoAs and the benefits of the partnership.

Recommendations

The report recommends more partnerships on publishing research and community service, reviewing expired MoUs and cooperation agreements, carrying out activities every year under each agreement, and adding more national and international partnerships.
